The Latin pop singer Kat DeLuna who is turning to (Akon) the Senegalese star for a boost. A'kon just signed on to executive-produce her debut album, 9 Lives, which is set to be re-released later this spring. Kat Luna had that mega dance hit “Whine up” and everyone went crazy. I know a few individuals that loved the flow of this song. I personally wasn’t that much of a fan of the song; it didn’t do anything for me. But I can see why it became at hit because the lyrics were very catchy and it was danceable. I’m glad that she is trying to make her album better because of low record sales. Adding Akon will be a great thing his voice is so unique and I love hearing it.
Kat Luna is a very down to earth girl I met her at Fashion Week Fall 07 in the city when her song was on constant airplay, she was very cool and friendly. A lot of the fashion/entertainment shows didn’t know who she was and they kept saying “What’s your name”? It was a little embarrassing but she said “I sing the song Whine up, Whine up, Whine up ooh yeah!” They were like oh but they didn’t know the song. She is still very young and has plenty of time to find herself as an artist. The re-release will have more of a hip-hop feel to it with her mixing in her vocals. I hope it won’t be too much rapping on this album so that she is basically singing mostly hooks. I want to hear her voice as well since her name is on the CD.
DeLuna recently filmed videos for the first single, "Run the Show." The Latin version is set to feature reggaetón star Don Omar; meanwhile, the English version will feature Busta Rhymes.
